This former gas station in Haines was partially excavated in 2003 to remove contaminated soil. Chilkat developed the SWPPP for the gravel mine on the Klehini River near Haines. The plan includes installation of berms to contain sediment and removal of fuel storage each winter in anticipation of potential spring flooding events.

Yukon River Inter-Tribal Watershed Council hired Chilkat to perform this Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment for abandoned honey bucket disposal facilities throughout the community. This was pretty darn gross but the folks out there have the best sense of humor ever so it was fun. The ADEC Brownfields Program funded this project.
