Chilkat worked closely with the Qawalangin Tribe & the Ounalashka Corporation to develop a plan to cleanup non-hazardous WWII building material in Unalaska Valley.  Chilkat documented over 200 buildings/elements in the project area & conceived a strategy to remove surface debris that doesn’t contribute to the historic significance of the area.  The primary challenge is that most of the debris is inaccessible from the road, delicate tundra surface necessitates manual removal via hand tools & sleds.
