The Eklutna Army Site was used for winter warfare training and staging along the Alaska Railroad.  The land was conveyed to Eklutna Inc. with extensive debris and contamination from DoD.  Chilkat Environmental removed 200 tons of Quonset huts and debris as well as over 250 buried drums containing solvents, tar and lead based paint.  After removal of the drums and a couple hundred yards of contaminated soil sampling at the extent of excavation detected TCE contamination.  This workplan was prepared to install a monitoring well and guide additional sampling that led to site closure.
