Chilkoot Lumber Company / Haines Power Plant Remedial Action (PCB)

 

Chilkat Environmental managed the 2.6 million dollar remedial action of this former mill and hog fuel powered utility for the City of Haines. Cleanup included management 34 PCB containing transformers, switches and capacitors.  Transformers were drained, triple rinsed and recycled.  Rinsate and dielectric oil was shipped out as hazardous waste.  Verification sampling was performed and demonstrated no PCB contamination persisted after the cleanup.
